Mamasana means healthy mom and mama heals. This dual meaning is at the heart of my life’s mission.
Welcome! My name is Amanda and my hope here is to provide helpful resources for families who are interested in natural living, real food recipes, DIY and homemade products.
I used to think feeling sick a lot of the time was just my normal.
When I was 14 years old I received an autoimmune diagnosis that doctors said could only be helped with daily medication and one of the first thoughts I had was:
WHAT ABOUT PREGNANCY AND MY FUTURE CHILDREN?!
I’ve wanted babies ever since I was a baby, so this was very important to me. I had always looked forward to starting a family, but medication and pregnancy didn’t seem to go hand in hand for me, and I didn’t want to live with illness forever. It was around that time that I began this lifelong journey towards natural health and healthy living.
The journey has been fruitful – I healed from autoimmune issues, pre-osteoarthritis, chronic allergies and sickness, digestive issues, and straight-up exhaustion! I’m now a mama to two beautiful baby girls and am learning all about how to live “the sankofa way” as my dear Ghanaian man calls it.
Sankofa is all about the preservation of traditional wisdom.
You see, my healing took off once I realized that I was created for health. The more I aligned myself to the time-honored truth that natural living and whole foods are what we were designed for, the easier it has become to cut sugar, processed foods, and toxic substances and chemicals out of my life.
It’s my heart’s passion to see my family and the next generation defeat the trend of increasing physical and mental illness.
Through research and by God’s grace, I’ve experienced life-giving physical, emotional, and spiritual nourishment and my hope is that as I share information here you will feel empowered to make life-giving choices for your family.
